For 8-18 seconds, whenever target foe is struck for fire damage, that foe is set on fire for 1-3 seconds.

would this still apply if i use a fire damage sword. like the fiery dragon sword?

yes. works with bows, swords, etc.

It'd also be nice to know exactly how much fire damage the 'on fire' does over time from one attack.

I think I recall reading somewhere that on fire is -8 health degen.

burning is -7 health degen. its the highest.
